Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4, more high resolution photos revealed

Some more details about the upcoming GTR 4 and GTS 4 watches have been leaked. Both are expected to be officially launched soon.

We know they’re coming because Zepp Health said so in their May 2022 investor call. They mentioned Q3 as the launch window, so GT 4 watches could start to drop in the next few weeks. Or the company could schedule the official IFA presentation in Berlin. Europe’s biggest tech meetup is scheduled for early September and it’s a huge launch pad for tech gadgets.

One watch from the GT 4 series has already dropped. A few days ago, Zepp Health officially announced the GTS 4 Mini. The device comes with some modest updates. This includes a 1.65-inch HD display, which is slightly larger than what can be found on its 2020 predecessor.

Now we have some photos and details of other watches in the series. They come courtesy of

GTR 4 and GTS 4: what to expect

Both GTR and GTS are popular smartwatches. That’s because they look good and pack a lot of health and fitness information into something that doesn’t cost too much. As before, the generation 4 of the duo comes with the same internals. The obvious difference is in the shape of the watches.

As the R in its name indicates, Amazfit GTR 4 includes a 1.43-inch diameter round AMOLED touch screen. It has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and always active option. This means that the screen is 0.4 inches larger than its predecessor. But it is slightly smaller than the 1.45-inch AMOLED that can be found in the Pro version of the GTR 3.

Once again we have two physical buttons on the right side. But the top button is shaped like a crown, while the bottom button has been changed to a square shape instead of a round one. Whether this is just a cosmetic detail or something to do with the new functionality remains to be seen.

The construction is aluminum alloy and you will have a choice between a silver and a black case. As before, it can be attached to a variety of leather, silicone or nylon watch straps.

The square-shaped GTS 4 gets a 1.75-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels. Which is exactly the same as the screen that can be found on GTS 3. The watch will be around 9.9mm thick and weigh 27 grams. Case color options for this one include black, rose gold, and brown, and it can be paired with a choice of silicone or nylon watch straps.

Amazfit GTR 4 has a huge 475mAh battery on board that lasts 12 days between charges. GTS 4 gets 300 mAh, which should keep you going for about a week.

It is unclear at this stage what health and fitness improvements we will see. Hopefully we get some. What is confirmed is 150 sports modes, some with training recognition, along with dual-band GPS with support for all five global positioning systems.

Of course, the watches feature Huami’s latest BioTracker 4.0 PPG optical sensor. This should ensure better accuracy and SpO2 tracking throughout the day.

The duo comes with over 200 watch faces. Around 30 of these are animated. However, you may want to aim for the simple ones as they won’t consume too much battery power.

One major change, it seems, will be integrated storage for music. To support this, both watches will be equipped with a speaker and microphone. Bluetooth calling comes as part of the package, along with Amazon Alexa support.

No details on pricing yet. Third-gen watches are around $180, so expect the GT 4 range to be around this price.
